The whole interaction feels odd to Bob who, despite their current surroundings, finds it easy to reach out and make new friends when he has to. It's hardly like the other man looks like he couldn't put up a decent fight if it came to it. So he's not sure what to make of the hesitation.

Oh, and Bob's a terrible flirt too. Men and women, though until recently it had been so much more straightforward. Flirting with women had been purely for appearances. And flirting with men had been nothing but a closeted joke because nobody had known he's gay.
But he falls back into the rhythm of it surprisingly easy, especially as it's meant only as a joke and nothing more. Not least because the other man looks like he'd rather lick the bottom of somebody else's shoe than shake his hand.
"Nah, time for a drink. I've had my fill today of knocking heads together. You had your fill of watching them?"
