Guns had never appealed to Ianthe. The Nine Houses didn't use them; Cohort infantry used swords, but that was because an adept could empower a soldier to better use a sword, not to better shot a gun. It was more cost effective. Bullets also didn't stop devils, and they were what the Empire was really fighting. There was just something so impersonal about killing with a gun. But she had been shot before. Not a fan.
