He is, by all rights, her liege lord, for she cannot imagine Gideon not yielding to his authority in all but the most extreme circumstances. She wonders if any Inquisitors in his five centuries after her have attempted to argue the technicality of their loyalty being sworn directly to the Throne rather than to him.

"Lord," she begins, and hesitates on offering him something. No. It would not be right to burden him with something already settled by his time. "May I ask, what have you said of the Imperium and of your own role within it?"
